Meet the President and Vice President-Elect
President-Elect: Dr. Mike Hirsch Dr. Mike Hirsch has been the Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas since the summer of 2003. He first became active in meetings of applied sociology in 2001 when he presented a paper "Sociologist as Mayor" at a joint session of the ASA and SAS in Anaheim, California. He began his applied career while working on his dissertation and running for a seat on city council in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has worked as a consultant on numerous political campaigns, was elected to the city council in Fayette, Missouri in 1994 and 1996 and was then elected Mayor of Fayette in 1998, 2000, and 2002. Currently Dr. Hirsch works as a paid consultant in the areas of economic development and program assessment. He serves on numerous community boards and committees and is currently the President of the C 3 board for NARAL ProChoice Texas.

Vice President-Elect: Dr. Augie Diana
Augie Diana, Ph.D., is a Health Scientist Administrator at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), one of the National Institutes of Health, where he oversees the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) grant portfolios for the Division of Epidemiology, Services and Prevention Research (DESPR). Augie has over 25 years experience conducting social research, including oversight of national, state and community evaluations at the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and at universities and in private industry in Boston and Colorado. In addition, Augie has taught and conducted extensive trainings to academic audiences, service providers and the larger community. Specific areas of expertise with regard to research, teaching and training include research methods, innovative methodological approaches, statistics, sport and leisure studies, crime and delinquency, and substance abuse prevention.
